Our stay on Dauphin Island was absolutely incredible! This home was perfect for our group of 15 (ages 1 to 62!) and had everything we needed and more. The amenities were fabulous—spacious, well-equipped, and thoughtfully designed for comfort and fun. The location couldn’t have been better—steps from both the bay and the gulf, and just a short drive or bike ride to local shops, restaurants, and activities. It truly felt like a blessing to share such a special place with our family. We made memories we’ll treasure forever!

Very good location. Fantastic view.
Overall a clean house except a few things. Not a big deal though. Wifi could be better.
But overall very good experience.

My family and I had a wonderful time spending Christmas here. The house was absolutely beautiful!! We loved the views. Dauphin Island Beach Rentals very quick to respond to any questions. We cannot wait to come back!

Absolutely beautiful house on an absolutely beautiful island! Our family loved it. I highly recommend this Airbnb.

Awesome! Loved our time at this beautiful house
Tymon B. says
This house is in a great location. It is rather private and close to the western end of the island. That part is great. The house itself is really nice and fit our group of four adults and seven children very well. The negative, and it is a pretty big negative, is how filthy the house was. I cannot imagine anyone cleaned it much at all before we arrived. We found long black hairs all over the house. It didn’t look anything had been dusted in a long time. The dining area table was so sticky we could barely get anything back off after we let it sit there for more than a few minutes (sadly, that is not an exaggeration). Worst of all, one of the showers would not drain. So I unscrewed the drain and proceeded to pull out clump after clump after clump of long black/brown hair and a disposable razor blade cover before it would drain. For what this house costs, cleanliness should not be an issue. Suffice to say, this property would be incredible if it were simply cleaned better.

Thank you for your review and for sharing both the positives and concerns about your stay. We’re so glad the location and layout worked well for your group. We sincerely apologize for the cleanliness issues you experienced — that’s not the standard we strive for. Since your visit, the home has been updated and a new pool has been added. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us continue to improve the guest experience.

Beautiful house and surroundings. The walk to the beach across the road is a breeze! The mosquitos are pretty bad though. Even on the beach side one evening I got eaten alive by mosquitos so make sure to pack some spray! The other times on the beach it was windy enough the mosquitos weren’t out. Host responded very quickly to every message. This was a wonderful and relaxing vacation. The house next door has a pool and there was a large family with a lot of children staying there so a lot of times there were children screaming when sitting out on the patio haha we didn’t mind though. It was a 9/10 vacation. The mosquitos were my only issue. And there is a different grill than the one pictured so we had bought charcoal and that wasn’t needed because there is a gas grill there now. Thank you so much for letting us stay at this wonderful beach home!!

Lovely house, with room to spread out - a few updates needed
We have stayed in this house three times, most recently in May 2024. Love the place.
Loads of room to spread out. Large master bedroom with en-suite bath, that includes separate bathtub and large shower.
Two additional bedrooms on the main-floor share a bathroom.
Fabulous large kitchen with well thought out center island for food prep and serving. Large table with room for your whole crowd to sit down together for meals. Large screen TV and an enormous very comfortable sectional sofa.
Upstairs there is a bunk room, with adjacent bathroom. The upstairs level includes a pool-table and second living room.
The house is on the bayside, with about a 100 yard walk down to the shoreline. Or you can walk about the same distance over to the gulf side of the island
A few things are in need of updating.
Recently a house went up next door to the west. The back deck of that house looks directly onto the kitchen/dining room of Salty Seahorse. The west facing windows of Salty Seahorse have no blinds, drapes or other window coverings. This makes for uncomfortable views between the two neighboring houses and (even worse) for blinding/glaring setting sun which makes it extremely uncomfortable to use the dining table around sunset.
The dining table is also in need of refinishing or replacement as the finish has gone sticky, and no amount of washing or cleaning will improve the situation. I rather suspect this is a function of the brutal glaring sunlight beating down on the table, damaging the varnish.
The master bedroom could use some better drapes or blinds, as the existing window coverings do not effectively darken the room once the sun rises in the morning. Late sleepers may find the room too light in the morning.
Despite these concerns, this house is a family favorite, and we will be back again.

We had a great time and enjoyed the beach house. It was in a perfect location. The guys walked straight out back door to the bay and fished. We even watched dolphins swim out the balcony. The beach side access was a short walk right across street which made it easy with kids! We truly enjoyed our time in Dauphin Island!
Chase Webster says
Thank you for the amazing review Elizabeth. Dauphin Island has so much to offer and we are glad y’all were able to enjoy it all. We hope to have you back.

The house was beautiful and spacious. Location and view were oustanding. My family is already planning our next trip.
Jessica R. says
We loved our stay at the Salty Seahorse and will probably book the house in the future for getaways. It is a lovely location and very accommodating to our needs/wants. Everything we needed was provided. I do wish there was coffee provided, the store is so far away and I wanted coffee in the mornings lol. Other than that we had a great time and enjoyed the home.
Jessica M. says
Our family vacation at the Salty Seahorse was certainly one to remember. It was filled with lots of relaxation and good times. We will definitely be returning in the future!
Ashley O. says
This house is beautiful. It is on the bayside of the island. Easy walk to the beach. Short drive the the gulf side on the west end, which is where the house is. It does allow pets with limitations and a pet deposit. It was indeed pet friendly, without a lot of rugs or things sitting around for my basset hound to get into. We are planning to stay there again.
Shari O. says
The Salty Seahorse was a phenomenal house on Dauphin Island for our three families to enjoy spring break. We loved the quiet private access to the bay where we watched pelicans, great blue herons, and dolphins close to shore. We were minutes from the public beach where the kids had more room to play and enjoy the waves. The bunk room upstairs was ideal for young kids. We prepared most of our meals at the house, and loved the spacious, clean, and well stocked kitchen – and all three decks were great for enjoying morning coffee and late night conversations. Thanks for setting the stage for family game nights, pool tournaments, and beach days. We made wonderful memories here!
Elizabeth G. says
This is a beautiful home that easily fit our party of 8. It is very spacious and super comfortable. We loved the multiple balconies in the front and back of the house. The pool table was our nightly post dinner entertainment. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. Our family loved having access to the Bay side beach and an easy walk across the street to the Gulf beach. We would flip flop during the day depending on which side was windier. We had an issue with a tripped breaker, and management promptly helped us and followed up. Great service! I would recommend bringing extra dish soap, dishwasher tabs. laundry soap, dryer sheets, toilet paper, and paper towels. There was just enough there to get started. I highly recommend The Salty Seahorse if you have a large party. It really was a perfect rental for us.

Is the damage waiver refundable?
Adam says
The damage waiver is non-refundable. You can elect to pay a $500 damage deposit instead of a waiver though and that is refundable.
debra steele says
how do you access the beach at the gulf….. cut through the houses or where
Adam says
You can’t walk between houses, but that’s not a problem because you have a close access point right across the street from you via Tovar Ct. Thank you!
Tiffany gabbert says
Where is the gulf side beach access? Can you walk straight across the street or do you have to use the west end public beach?
Adam says
You can walk right across the street down Tovar Ct for easy beach access. Thanks! DIBR
