Description
Knee-Deep is a four bedroom, two bath beach cottage, located directly on Dauphin Island’s white sandy Gulf of Mexico beach. An original, authentic beach cottage with recent upgrades. This beach house has plenty of local character. Your family will be able to enjoy this unique house and its great Gulf and Bay views. You are literally “”on the beach””, with no street to cross, just steps to the Gulf. The master bedroom has a king size bed and access to the gulf side deck. Guest bedroom 2 has a Queen size bed, Guest bedroom 3 has a queen size bed, and the kids’ room has two sets of twin bunk beds. Knee Deep features Gulf and Bay views from nearly every room, and an updated kitchen, completely outfitted with everything you will need for your beach vacation. Extra amenities include a Pack-n-Play and Highchair (bulky items available for use so that you do not need to travel
As with all of our Dauphin Island Beach Rentals, all linens and towels are provided, WIFI, along with a fully outfitted kitchen. There will be a starter pack of toilet paper, paper towels, and trash bags; please plan on bringing more for day 2 ;). A great beach vacation is waiting on you!
Please note the following:
1. Minimum Age for the Primary Renter is 25, and Primary Renter must be present for the entire stay.
2. Maximum Occupancy numbers include Children 3 and over and cannot be exceeded at any time.
3. All of our Homes are Non-Smoking.
4. A signed Rental Agreement is Required, which contains additional Rules and Guidance.
5. This property does not allow weddings or parties.
6. Check-in time is 3 pm, and check-out time is 10 am.
7. Start dishes and linens before departure.
8. Take the trash can to the street on Tuesday night and Friday night.
9. This home is pet-friendly, dogs only, 2-Pet Maximum Limit – $100 pet fee per pet plus tax applies.

The property has a driveway that can accommodate 3 cars. Free overflow parking at Green Park next to Ship N Shore.

A wonderful location just steps from the beach, which made our stay extra relaxing. Very dog friendly!
We were on a working vacation, and the only challenge was that the WiFi wasn’t quite strong enough for both of us to be on video calls at the same time, plus the internet connection dropped numerous times throughout the work day. Otherwise, we really enjoyed the area.

The location, the beach view and beach access were perfect. The kitchen floor was not clean when we entered. Listing that beach towels and umbrellas are not provided would be helpful.

We had a great time at Knee Deep in Dauphin Island. The house while not the very front house was still so close to the beach. We easily let our young daughter run up to the house and back to the beach without having to have someone walk with her. The house had every cooking item we needed (although, we didn’t find a crockpot but ended up not needing it). It felt very much like we were at home, and I did not feel like we were in a museum where I had to be on guard the whole time. Our entire family felt very comfortable. The master suite felt like it went on forever! It was on the opposite side of the house with a toilet/bathtub room, room with the sink/cabinets, a storage room, and a laundry room. The other 3 rooms felt very spacious as well. It was not cramped at all. There was ample sitting room with the couches, chairs, open kitchen area and lots of outdoor space. The views were awesome. We did need to reach out a few times, but they were very responsive.We hope to be back!

We enjoyed our stay here very much! We had a bit of trouble getting the lockbox to the key open, but the host answered my phone call and was able to give me the door code immediately. We entered with no issues from there. The home was very well stocked both in the kitchen and with linens. Best supply I’ve ever seen! We brought towels from home just in case, but it wasn’t necessary. We wondered before our trip if we’d feel like we were too far back from the water in this spot, but the distance was perfect. It gave our teen boys an area to play football in the evenings, while still being no more than a 30 second walk to the water. This was our first time on Dauphin Island, and we feel we may have found a new family tradition in this home.

We really enjoyed the house for our two families. The view was great. We liked the extra space in front of the house – perfect for setting up our volleyball net. The ice machine was as great as we hoped it would be. The washer and dryer was really great too.

Pros: homey place, steps from the beach, great location, very clean, ice machine is a plus. Cons: The deck was very large with lots of chairs, however we wished there was a table under cover since it was raining for half our stay. The keypad malfunctioned and locked us out one evening. Since it was after hours, no one responded on “message your host” until the next morning, but we were able to get ahold of someone on the “in case of emergency” number (once we found a number on the silly app), who helped us quickly. The code for the lock box listed in “how to get in” was incorrect. The keypad did not respond to any numbers being pressed, but would randomly beep and self-lock through the night and next morning. They sent out a maintenance person to replace the key pad the next morning, but it never worked. We left the next day so we didn’t have to deal with it for long. I think we were just unlucky.

The house has a great view, fully stocked kitchen for cooking, and a great deck. It’s a short walk to the water, which was great for our family, with elderly parents. There was a hiccup checking in with the PIN code door lock, but management was quick to address the issue. We did not have internet the first day but it was due to a storm a week prior to our visit, which they also addressed quickly. Please note one bedroom does not have a closet. If you’re staying for a week it may cause an issue.

Our family (with 3 kids and a dog) had a great stay at Knee Deep! The beach is easily accessed right out the front door, and the snowball stand down the road at the beach park is easily reached by bike (~1 mile).
The one drawback we found was that the Wi-Fi speed was very slow at times, so that we weren’t able to work from the house as we had hoped. I found that the Welcome Center has free public Wi-Fi, but that was not an ideal solution overall. We understand that faster internet is available on the island – it depends on which company is providing service. So, keep that in mind if you need a place with faster internet.

The home had a gorgeous view, right near the water. The place was clean the king bed was comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. BUT the living room furniture is showing wear. Time to update furniture.

Great location. Beautiful view. Once you step off the deck you are on the beach. Family had Thanksgiving there and kitchen was stocked with everything to provide big meal.
Only 1 negative–we experienced one cold, windy day and one bedroom was drafty. We were unable to use small heaters provided as the wall outlets in the room did not work.

We had a really great stay and loved that the home and beach were dog-friendly! Checking in was a little stressful as the code provided didn’t work, but this was handled relatively quickly and easily. No complaints! You really can’t beat waking up right on the beach. The property was great for our stay. A snafu with the entry code upon arrival was less than ideal but once we called and reached the management, it was quickly taken care of. The location was fantastic and the island as a whole was great for our week there with family. Clean, comfortable home. Loved the ice maker and the solar lights for entering after dark. A cutting board on site would have been helpful. We also washed the windows ocean side upon arrival as they were dirty on the outside and cleaning them gave us a much better view of the ocean which was righ outside the door!!

There were 5 adults and 4 children (5, 4, 2, & 1) in our party. This beach house was perfect for our family. We had plenty of room. The house is right off the beach/gulf. Beach access is perfect and only steps away from the house. The view is gorgeous. We saw dolphins and many varieties of birds during our stay. The kids collected lots of seashells. There were boogie boards, chairs, and lots of sand toys stored in the room under the porch. We hope to return again one day and would recommend this stay to anyone we know!

You can walk up and down the beach. The “wet sand” is a Federal Easement and it is accepted locally anyway. You will see people walking up and down the coastline.

It will depend on the time of year. The date picker on our calendar will walk you through any booking rules. Typically, you can expect it to be Saturday to Saturday for Summer and Spring Break.
