Throughout the year, Mr. and Mrs. Bellingrath host an assortment of special events and programs to celebrate holidays. These special events are nothing to underestimate. Magic Christmas in Lights features roughly 3 million lights and 1,100 props displayed throughout 15 Christmas scenes. The Bellingrath Gardens Christmas Lights event spans across their entire 65-acre estate. So you’re truly walking through Alabama’s winter wonderland! The Bellingrath Gardens’ House’s interior is decorated as well will traditional holiday decor and an army of poinsettias. Be sure to catch a tour of the house; tours run every hour and a half until 8:30 pm. While waiting for your turn for a house tour, purchase a cup of hot cocoa and listen to the nighty choir performance on the south side of the house.
Bellingrath Gardens Christmas Lights Recognition
Over the years, Bellingrath Gardens Lights have received many awards and honors. For example, the Christmas lights show was named a winner in the Top 20 Festival & Event by the Southeast Tourism Society. Bellingrath Gardens Christmas Lights were also ranked on USA Today’s 2018 list of “10 Best Botanical Garden Holiday Light Displays,” which was decided through readers’ votes. They also were mentioned in the “Top 100 Events of 2016,” by American Bus Association. This child friendly festival ceases to be an all-time favorite Christmas tradition.
