We have been lucky to enjoy a good bit  of four-star travel over the years, renting villas in St Barth's, Cote d'Azur, Provence, Paris, Rome, Turks and Caicos, Tuscany, Amalfi coast,.. anyway, after our family week on Dauphin Island with our kids and inlaws and especially our golden retiever, I think our high school/college  kids will  remember  our recent week at Island Time II perhaps  with the most affection... we love Dauphin Island!

There is NOTHING better than running with the kids and the dog along those deserted beaches, and then enjoying a cold beer and some steamed seafood from Skinner's, or bike over to the Oar House... it's not Destin- no 30A- and we like it that way... Destin and Orange Beach tend to turn the attention outward, towards commercialism and our kids being  with other kids.. on Dauphin Island, it's just us- perfectt!.....  Island Time II is like staying with friends- perfectly equipped  as though it were your own place... right smack on the beach cant even SEE another house!  clean, spacious   casual elegance... it's great the way it works on different  levels ... Grandad  inside watching sports on  TV...Grandmother outside under the shade porch reading, college girls tanning by the pool. high school boys kayaking with the dog gon the beach.......Heaven! Spring Break 2012. . .Took our 3 adult children and 2 young grandsons (5 yr. old and 9 months old). Having the private pool right outside the door was perfect for the boys. The house was clean with plenty of space for us and friends who visited during the week. We enjoyed pastries from the Lighthouse Bakery (don't miss at least one trip there) and fried seafood from the Common Loon Restaurant. All very good!! We only live about 45 mins away but it was just far enough away from home. Already planning our trip back for next year.

We traveled and stayed at Island Time II the March 2012. This is the second time that I have been to Dauphin Island but the first time with family that came with us. I always love coming to Dauphin Island and Island Time just made it even more enjoyable. The view is wonderful and it was very nice to have the heated pool right out side your door and the few chilly days we had since the water was too cold to swim in. The only things we had an issue with was roaches (big and small, in the house and out). I tried to call the maintenance but they weren't open when we called so we just dealth with it, but it was only for the first two days or say and then things were fine. Not a big deal to us. Whole home is beautiful and I am already planning when i can come back and stay at this home next year :) Thank you for a wonderful vacation and our first trip to Dauphin Island and the beach with our 18 month old.

Easy to find; beautiful and peaceful. House is right on the beach, very comfortable and so easy for kids etc to get to the beach. Very safe. Has everything you need and more. Local stores a short drive away have most if not everything you need.

We had no complaints on the house or the island. The house was very spacious and beautifully decorated. Wish we could stay forever! Dump trucks of sand were being brought in by the end of the week to help fight the expected oil. (nothing the realtors could do about that) Thankfully, I do not think it ever got there. I would hate to see this wonderful place ruined! The rest of the week we had the whole beach alone and it was beautiful! Got the best vacation pictures ever!! Everyone talks about Dauphin Island everyday, still! Can't wait to go back!!!

The house and the location were awesome!!! I took my 3 daughters and their families with me. All agree with me that this rental is tops!! Also Nancy Meyer is wonderful to rent from! My family and I are already making plans to come back to Island Time next year! This was our 4th time to come to the island and this house was the best ever!! The views from each room are spectacular! If you want a beach front house this is the one for you. When you wake up in the morning and walk in the kitchen, you are so close to the water you feel like you are on a house boat!! We would definitely recommend this rental!!!

This beach home is the best one we stayed in so far (and we have stayed at several). Bringing our dogs along is a added plus. You could sit on the deck and watch the water come in under the house. You could not be any closer to the water. We have been looking for a place to stay every year since Katrina (in 2005) blew away the one we were using every year. I think we have found the one we will return to. Needless to say we were very happy with this beach home and will return. (most likely without our dogs- they are getting too old for the stairs.)

We stayed in Island Time for 6 nights. There were 6 adults (3 couples) and 1 pooch. Everyone really liked the house, the 3 bedrooms worked out perfect. The house is located on the west end of the Island, it was far away from most of the population which was what I looked for. I think the park at the far west of the Island will create much more activity when it opens for summer. I can't think of anything that was not provided as far as amenities go, I guess bring your own large trash bags as there is only one provided and trash is picked up twice a week.

The service was great - very responsive, especially with the amount of notice we gave. The home was okay. All of the issues were minor, but I suppose they added up. The online pictures show the house a decent distance from the beach with a wooden crossover to the beach. Apparently, there had been so much beach erosion in this area, that the waves are now crashing underneath the deck of the house! We were unprepared for the flooding that occurred (the street was nearly covered with standing water). At times, there was very little actual "beach" to lay out on. Loved the kitchen island; it was great for meals and for playing games after dinner. Loved how quiet the island was and the weather was no less than perfect. A couple of other minor issues that were just aggravating was that the master closet was full of "stuff" (e.g., a high chair, a vacuum, a small Christmas tree) making it difficult to use (and there's no light in there, either). Also, there were no trash cans in the master bathroom. I loved Dauphin Island, but I'd likely look for a home a little closer to the East end of the island where the erosion isn't as noticeable.

First, let me first start off by saying that the realtor was the best! I had problems with another local one but she helped me out and got me a location that I wanted for the time that I wanted. The house was great! It had all the amenities of home which definitely made the vacation easier. The sounds of the waves crashing at night was the highlight for me. Seeing dolphins daily was the hightlight for my children. Also, having so much beach for the kids to play on in eyesight from the deck was fabulous! I have beautiful pictures and very fond memories of this vacation.

We had a great time during our stay. Everything was great! Comfy beds, great views, quiet, starry surroundings! Great for the telescope!!! Our only negative was limited cooking supplies (pots/pans), but we improvised! Would love to come back again!

We enjoyed our stay, but were a little dissapointed in the overall condition and cleanliness of the house. The house needed an overall good cleaning, especially the kitchen stove and the windows. The carpet remnants in the hall and kitchen were tattered and dirty. We were very surprised that there was no dining table. I know the homeowner has no control over the maintenance of the sand birm in front of the house, but the pictures on the website show a walkway over the birm. It was not there, and I believe the information about the house should reflect this. It was difficult getting to the beach. This was our third stay on Dauphin Island. The previous two times, we have brought others with us. I'm glad it was just the two of us this time as I would have been even more dissappointed in the house if we had brought company. In fact, I would have been very embarrassed. We have told many people about how much we enjoy spending time on the island, and we will undoubtedly spend more time there. However, I'll look around at other companies, and if I rent from this company again, I'll be asking a lot more questions.

How do you describe the best vacation ever? The location of the home was perfect, our own private beach with the exception of neighbors walking by (no problem with that!) Loads of beautiful shells to collect and nothing can beat sunrise and sunset! The home had everything we needed, the kitchen was perfect, the bed was comfortable which means a lot to my husband and me. If you need anything real quick, the Ship & Shore store down the street has it. Our only complaints was the remote control in the living room (those buttons just don't work well anymore) and the gas grill was hard to get going with all the wind from the ocean. Other than those minor things we had a fabulous vacation! Thanks!

We chose this house because it was pet friendly. From the beginning the rental was trouble free. The house was just as described. If you needed it, it was there. The one disappointment we did have was the gas grill. We had planned on grilling most nights but the grill didn't work well. They did have a smaller charcoal grill which served the purpose but took a little longer to cook. The house was clean and well maintained. I really liked the layout of the house. It allowed for gathering in the kitchen which always works. It was stocked with kitchenware, linens, chairs and beach toys so much so that I overpacked! Island Time was just what we were looking for. It was quiet and low-keyed. We were able to maximize our family time. We rode bicycles, took long walks on the beach and bay side, played games at night. It was very relaxing. I would recommend the house to anyone looking for relaxation.

After several vacations to the Florida panhandle (Destin/Ft Walton Beach) and getting very tired of the traffic and crowds that we were trying to get away from, my friend from Mobile suggested Dauphin Island. My family and I looked at quite a few of the Dauphine Island beach houses and settled on this one. If you are looking for an un-crowded and slow paced beach town this is the place, I could not have been more pleased with this decision, The House is located on the west end of the island and literally right on the water but not in the water like some of the homes have ended up due to the beach erosion. The ocean view from this house is spectacular. One thing I will point out is that the water is not as clear as some Florida beach?s due to the proximity of the rivers flowing into Mobile Bay and the Mississippi delta but in my opinion better than anything on the Texas coast. The house itself was nicely furnished with very comfortable memory foam mattresses in the master and second bedrooms but the dining accommodations were limited to four chairs at the kitchen island. The kitchen is equipped with very basic utensils, as with most rental properties you should bring your own favorite cookware. Linens and towels etc were more than adequate. The home also has a fairly decent wireless internet connection if you bring a laptop. The island itself is very laidback and has very few options for dining out so plan on bringing most of your food in, The Ship and Shore store in town carries most of the basic grocery items, as my friend put it ?they carry one of everything? The only other option is driving back to I-10 to Wal-Mart or other stores. If you like fresh fish and shrimp check out Skinners seafood market. Our experience at this home on Dauphin Island was relaxing and fun and we will definitely be back.

This home is beautiful with everything you need to make you feel at home. It is situated perfectly on the beach. You have sun if you want or shade if you want. The shells on the beach are endless,there are as many as you want to pick up. We enjoyed feeding the birds from the deck to watching the crabs play below. Beautiful weather,beautiful home. This was our second stay at Island Time and it was relaxing and enjoyable. The house is lovely and the beach does not get too much traffic so there is plenty of opportunity to relax. We rented a Kayak from Lynn and that was the highlight of our vacation. The kayak was a blast and meeting Lynn was a treat, she is a truly awesome lady. The only down side is that it was sad to see how much of the beach is eroded and I was a little concerned about the amount of rebar that was left unattended at some sites.

After 6 years of searching for a nice petfriendly beach house we FINALLY found one in Island Time. The weather was perfect, in the low 80's, the beach was quiet and peaceful and the house was beautiful! Most houses we have rented in the past have been a bit worn and need of repair. My only suggestions would be to get a few more kitchen pots and pans adn make sure the grill is functioning. We ended up purchasing a small charcoal grill and it all worked out fine.Last would be to purchase new linens for the beds. We hope that this house is maintained and kept well as we would love to come back next year. Thanks, Josie

Nancy thought of every comfort that we could have possibly wanted; from the 25 piece puzzle that my 3 year old granddaughter found to the book that kept my husband occupied. It was awesome! The weather was unpredictable and we didn't get to lay on the beach as we had hoped, but staying inside and touring the island was also pleasurable.

The house is beautiful, very clean and bright. We felt at home; beautiful staying so close to the Gulf. I would highly recommend this to anyone, it is private and so quite. We went with our closets friends, our puppies and loved every minute of our stay. We wanted to have a later check out time. We did feel that 10:00 am was too early since we were responsible for stripping the beds and doing a load of towels. We feel that 12:00 is more appropriate. Irregardless of the one thing...The experience was excellent, the property managers were wonderful and the house perfect! Can't wait to go back during the Summer.

We had a wonderful time...the home was lovely...the island was peaceful and everyone was very friendly! We enjoyed the bird sanctuary, picking up shells on the beach, riding the ferry over to Fort Morgan, visiting Fort Gaines... we had an awesome time...very restful...I hope to come back with all my family!

Island Time is the best home on the beach ! We had such a good time, this house is now like our second home. The Best thing about this place is We had no worries during the week we stayed. the only one was if I would run out of gas in the grill. then I found a full tank on the back side of the deck. They thought of everything! All we had to do then was to keep picking all those pesky shells off the beach and make sure the Daulphins came by every day! There is a old saying, If you get Alabama sand in your shoes, you will always be back. I know We Will! Oh Yea, Skinners is a must!

This property on the west end of Dauphin Island on the narrow spit of the island. It is very close to the water so affords great views and sounds of the surf. You can watch the sun rise from the second bedroom-we had one day of awesome sunrise. You can see sunset views from the kitchen/dining area. The master bedroom had a narrow window with more restricted views, so we chose the second bedroom to sleep in. The house is well furnished and comfortable. The only drawback for a larger group is the lack of a dining table - there is only a counter with 4 stools. It worked fine for us, but larger groups would not be able to sit down together (the reason for 4 stars instead of 5).

This beach house was great! You will found all the amenities you need for a week vacation house (4 adults and 6 kids fit perfecly). You see the sunrise and the sunset from the balcony. Nice breeze, great ocean view and quiet environment with crystal clear water where you could see dolphins near the shore line. Several places to go visit that include old fort structures and gardens. I'm born and rise in Puerto Rico's west south area (Surrounded by crystal clear blue water and small town air), So I feel qualified to tell you that this is an excellent place to relax and enjoy life!

Love Nancy and David's house!! This is my second stay and I will keep coming back. I love the quietness and tranquility of Dauphin Island. Very low key and out of the tourist trap path! It's also a wonderful beach if you are a dog lover.
