We stayed at the Sun Spot in March, 2012, and had a great time! The house was very spacious and had beautiful views. The pictures are a bit out dated in the sense that there is no beach between the house and the water---the deck is actually over the water. My kids thought that was great! Also, the lock box w the key is actually on top of the stairs, not in a different lock box on the pier, like the instructions said. We would stay there again in a heart beat!

I enjoyed my 40th birthday here with my family. I loved the entire experience, from waking up and having coffee on the balcony every morning to walking along the beach. It was quiet, peaceful and by far the most beautiful scenery you could ask for. We were even able to fish right off of the balcony and actually pulled in two 30 inch reds! Needless to say, we are looking for the opportunity to revisit Sun Spot. The unit has a beautiful open floor plan, is clean and inviting. A true home away from home.

My husband and I took our first vacation as empty nesters. We didn't want crowds and lots going on. It was perfect. The weather was perfect, the water was perfect and there were no crowds.A few people to speak too and that's all. The Sunspot was a fantastic place, layed out well and very clean and close to the water. We weren't bothered by the rental people, ( a plus) and it was fantastic for our Golden retriever, Toby. We will ask for the same place again.

Sun spot was very cool. Nice floor plan. Loved the sound of the waves. We moved to Purple Parrot, which was also nice, but not as cool as Sun Spot. Unfortunately got weathered out by Tropical Storm Lee. But definitely plan to go back soon.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed in Sun Spot on Dauphin Island, AL. We stayed there in 2009 and this July. We loved the house, location and the Island. If you're looking for lots to do at the beach don't go there, but if you're looking for complete relaxation then Dauphin Island, AL is the place to go. We love it and will definitely go back!!! My husband, my two girls 13 & 18, myself, and another couple who are our best friends went the first time. This year we all went again and included another couple and it was great. We had plenty of room!!! If you get a chance to go you need to.. Mrs. Nancy is the best at Dauphin Island Beach Rentals.

It was a nice place to stay, right on the water with a gorgeous view. My only complaint is with the hefty cleaning fees and service. I don't mind paying a $100 cleaning fee (even though we were only there for 2 days) but then I don't want to have to clean when I leave. There's a list of things that the management service wants you to do before you leave, i.e. strip the bedding, wash the sheets, wash the dishes and there were no cleaning supplies to do that. When we took off the bedding there were old blood stains on the pillows. Inexcusable...buy a new pillow! So I guess our complaint was with the management service, who never called to see if we had arrived or to see if there was anything we needed, and it's cleaning service. But the house itself was a nice place to stay with plenty of room for a family or group of friends.

Enjoyed our stay very much, 1st time to Dauphin Island. But would advise harder to bring more supplies (food) for cooking and snacks. local stores were hard to find certain items that might be wanted or needed.

We have stayed in several houses on the beach, but with Sun Spot we have finally found our home. It was amazing to sit in the living room and see the ocean roll up to the house and watch dolphins play in our back yard. The check in process was so easy and the house was laid out so perfectly for our extended family and teens. We will be returning many times in the future.

Me and my wife had one of the most relxing enjoyable vacation together since our honeymoon!.We thought the island was pristine looking and when compared to galveston it gets a 10.These folks really care about this place as reflected by the clean areasall around it.We will definitely be returning in 2011!also--what oil spill?!!!

We loved the location of the property. The inside was updated and very nice. We loved the waves under the porch. We all had a very fun and relaxing time. The only down side was going when everyone was on alert for the oil. The people going up and down the beach all through the day was a bit distracting. We did have a bit of difficulty going over the piles of sand in the driveway. We would absolutely recommend this property and the personnel at Dauphin Island Beach Rentals were the nicest I have ever worked with. The Bernards

The service i receivrd from the realtor was plesant and speedy, something i needed since it was planned on short notice. The home was wonderful, clean and well equipped with everything we needed and hoped for. It was so lovely, my whole family enjoyed it. The layout of the home gave everyone space, so we wasn,t stepping on each others toes.And believe me, we had the max number of people plus a couple kids in there and we couldn,t have had more fun.The deck on the back of the house was just heavenly.You can kick back and sun if you like or watch the beautiful sunsets and listen to the sounds of the waves,have a drink or two or even fish. Yes that,s right i said fish, my grandkids had a blast doing it, they even caught some; or i should say alot they done it all day long. If you like peace and quite with small crowds,lol, then this is the place for you. It was just what i wanted,semi deserted. And at night with the sound of the waves crashing under the house, it,s like a lullabye putting you to sleep. So go and enjoy just as i did, you won't regret it i promise.I haven't.

We recently spent a few days in the Sunspot house. It turned out to be one of my favorite places I've ever stayed. The water breaks under the deck, so, if you consider the sound of the ocean relaxing, it doesn't get any better than this. In addition to the fabulous view and the beautiful house, the fact that check in was hastle free was the icing on the cake!!! If you're looking for night life and fancy restaurants, this is not the place for you, but,if getting away from the hustle-bustle of life, I would (and already have) highly recommend it!

We had a group of 8 friends that stayed Labor Day weekend. The house was very spacious and well equipped with anything we needed. The waves crashing under the house was amazing!!! The island was great! The beds were incredibly comfortable! We actually got engaged right across the street, which was far enough away to enjoy our own time together but close enough to go back to the house and celebrate with our friends. We had a truely amazing weekend! Thanks for the memories!

The house is very nice, clean, and reasonably well-appointed. The well-documented trouble with the refrigerator seems largely to be the fault of the cleaning staff that I guess leave it open the whole time they are cleaning-- it was not very cold at all when we got there. But eventually it cools off and functions normally. The other thing that one must be aware of is that this house is a poster child for coastal erosion. What used to be "gulf front" property is now 10-15 feet into the gulf of mexico at high tide. There was never a point during our stay when the water was not under the house to some degree. The result is that the passers-by walking along the beach must walk under the house to stay on dry sand. While this is not a huge problem and we certainly didn't mind it, it nonetheless takes a little getting used to as it feels like a little invasion of your personal space. We found the sound of the waves constantly crashing under our bedroom relaxing but I could see where others might find the waves a little too close for comfort as well. That said, this place has everything we were looking for at Dauphin Island-- lack of huge development, slower pace, fewer people. I just hope erosion and hurricanes don't completely wash it into the gulf.

Would also be a great place for younger children with the shallow water and shady place to play. Interior of house was very pretty, updated and clean. Wonderful views from every side of the house. My 86 year old mother went with us and she could watch everything we did from the balcony. Hope to come back again.

Sunspot is the best beach rental we have ever had, and we have tried many. The rooms are spacious, the open living/kitchen concept was just the ticket for interacting with family and friends. The house is literally "on the beach" which we loved. The island is rather sleepy, but plenty to do for a week and the bakery is to die for. We saw dolphins off our porch EVERY DAY! We loved it and will be back. Also, David is a gem, it was nice to meet him. The rental company was helpful and efficient. All in all, I highly recommend it. candace

The house was very clean, we truely had a wonderful time. The island is incredible and the ocean was right up to the house, so we went to sleep to the ocean sounds each night. The houses are far apart so you get to enjoy the quiet beach all to yourself, but still close enough to go say hello to your neighbors. There was a place to rent jet skies just down the road and the island has plenty of inexpensive places to eat. In fact, there were no expensive places on the island to eat. The fresh seafood was great. We are certainly coming back to this island and will rent another house. We definitely recommend this location for people wanting to relax on vacation.
